More about this game
Neon Protocol: Grid Hack is a logic puzzle where you must place four specific shapes onto a 4x4 grid. Your goal is to match the exact number of filled cells required for each row and column, indicated by the glowing edge bars. Watch out for forbidden cells where blocks cannot be placed, and fixed cells that already count toward your totals. As you progress, stages get harder and you earn gold to unlock new neon themes and effects.
Tips
- If you get stuck, wait 18 seconds for a hint pulse to reveal a valid placement for one of your unplaced blocks.
- Count the fixed cells first. They already contribute to the row and column totals, which limits where your larger pieces can go.
- Use the reset button or press Escape to quickly clear the grid if you realize your current layout will not work.
Questions
How do I rotate the blocks?
You can double-tap or double-click a block while holding it, or press the R key on your keyboard to rotate the currently selected piece.

If you try to place a block in an invalid spot, the grid flashes red for 360 milliseconds and the piece returns to the tray.
What is the gold used for?
You earn gold for completing stages, which you can spend in the shop to buy new terminal colors like Cyan or Magenta, and visual effects.
